Embrace the Cringe
Face your fear. Follow the cringe. Let yourself be seen.
The cringe you feel is you, on the edge of something real. Five days to stop backing away from it, and finally show up as your true self.
5 days · live with me · $47
It’s not self-sabotage. It’s self-protection.
You film it and don’t post it. You write the honest caption and deleteit. You get right up to the edge of being really seen — and something in you slams the door. We call it a block, or burnout, or “I’m just not a visible person.” But underneath, it’s almost always the same thing:
fear.
Not the dramatic kind. The quiet, full-body kind — the flush of cringe, the urge to shrink, the 3am “delete everything.” That’s your nervous system doing its job. Somewhere back there, being fully seen, too much, too honest, too you — got dangerous. So it learned to keep you safe by keeping you hidden. That’s not a flaw. That’s protection.
Nothing is wrong with you. Your body makes sense.
Your realest self is hiding in the cringe.
✔️ The silly dance
✔️ The loud singing
✔️ The unfiltered opinion
✔️ The thing you’d be mortified to post
That’s not the embarrassing stuff to avoid, it’s the most real, most alive stuff you’ve got, filed away as “too much.” Cringe is the flush you feel the instant your true self reaches to come out, and something in you says absolutely not.
And that flinch is okay. It isn’t a malfunction. It’s a loyal, protective instinct that learned, a long time ago, that being fully seen wasn’t safe. Nothing is wrong with you for feeling it.
You don’t cringe at the fake stuff.
You cringe right before the true stuff.
So the cringe isn’t a wall, it’s a doorway. The exact edge where you stop performing and start being real. The way back to yourself isn’t around it, it’s straight through it. That’s the whole challenge: we go toward the cringe on purpose, because your realest self is standing right on the other side.
This isn’t a “post more” challenge.
Most challenges run on reps: show up enough and the fear wears off.
But reps alone don’t expand you — they numb you. You can white-knuckle a hundred posts and still have a body that reads being seen as danger. That’s not the real you. That’s a better mask.
And not all cringe is the same. There’s the cringe of your real self being exposed — follow that one, it’s alive. And there’s the cringe of forcing it, performing, faking a trend, that one cringes because it’s out of integrity. Your own body is the compass: alive-cringe, go toward it. Fake-cringe, something’s driving.
Face it → Embrace it → Be seen
You face the fear underneath. You embrace the cringe on purpose, and stay with the real you instead of yanking her back in. And you let her be seen, witnessed. That staying-with-yourself is the medicine.
Not the posting.
The five days
We don’t start with posting. We start with you. The first four days are private, just you, your fear, and your cringe. Day five, the real you steps out where she can be seen.
D A Y 1
Face it
Name the fear: what are you afraid will happen if you’re fully seen? Then meet the version of you hiding behind it — the one who wanted to dance, sing, and be delighted in, before it got dangerous. (Private. Just contact.)
D A Y 2
Find your cringe
The teaching day: why the cringe happens, and then you find yours. The specific things you’d never post. That list isn’t your shame, it’s a treasure map to the realest parts of you.
D A Y 3
Embrace it, small
One small cringe on purpose, privately. Feel the flush, stay with her, don’t pull her back in. You’re learning the one skill: don’t abandon yourself at the edge.
D A Y 4
Embrace it, loud
Bigger. Messier. Full-body. The dance, the song, the unfiltered take. The cringe gets louder and you stay with her anyway.
D A Y 5
Be seen, together
One cringe-y, honest, real thing, let out where it can be seen. You tag me so I can celebrate and share it, and drop it in the group so your people can love on it too. Let the real you be witnessed. That’s the whole point.
You won’t do this alone.
This is the part that makes it work, and the part every other challenge skips.
Being brave was never what heals you. Being witnessed is. If you post your cringe into silence, your body logs it: see, not safe. But if you post it and get loved on, celebrated, reshared, held. Your nervous system gets live proof that being seen was safe this time.
So when you let the real you out, you tag me and drop it in the group, I reshare you and celebrate you. Your people cover you in love. One rule in the room: we only respond with love. The first time you’re truly seen, the wave that comes back is warm, on purpose.
Let it out → Get witnessed → Get held
This is for you if…
✔️ You film it, then delete it — or never hit record at all
✔️ Being seen still feels like a threat, no matter how much you “know better”
✔️ You ghost your own launches and quietly kill your own momentum
✔️ You’ve lost touch with the playful, silly, alive part of you
✔️ You’re building something, a brand, a shop, a practice… and being seen is the bottleneck
✔️ You want showing up to feel alive again, not like a fight against yourself
Creators, coaches, business owners… it doesn’t matter what the platform is. If the real you has gone into hiding, this is where you go get her.
I’m doing this scared too.
I’m Colleen, a trauma therapist turned nervous system and visibility coach. For fifteen years I helped people be seen: in their lives, in the therapy room, as new clinicians, as leaders.
And I didn’t post for a year. I’d gone quiet, performing a careful, safe version of myself and the part that kept me hidden had good reasons; she got me through some hard things. So I’m not teaching this from the finish line. I’m three steps ahead on the same trail, feeling the cringe, staying with myself, and letting the real me out anyway.I’m not promising you a viral moment. I side-eye anyone who does.
I’m promising you yourself back, a nervous-system-friendly way to be fully, ridiculously, unmistakably real, and a room full of people to catch you while you learn how.

Questions your guard might be asking
"Isn't this just being cringe on purpose?"
Kind of, but with a compass.
We follow the cringe of your real self being exposed (that’s where the truth is), not the cringe of forcing or performing.
Your body knows the difference, and you’ll learn to feel it.
"Do I have to post something public?"
Only on Day 5, and only something you choose and feel ready for, we get your guard on board first. The first four days are entirely private. And “public” can be small.
One real thing counts.
"I've failed every challenge I've ever started."
Then this was built for you. The reps are small on purpose. Dosed. This is the challenge for people who can’t finish challenges, because we’re not asking your nervous system to do more than it can hold, and you won’t be doing it alone.
"What if I'm not creative?"
You don’t have to be an artist. The real you might show up as a dance, a hot take, a laugh, a way of seeing things. This isn’t about talent. It’s about letting the most alive, honest part of you be seen.
"Is this therapy?"
No. This is coaching, educational and experiential, built on nervous system and parts-work principles. It’s not a substitute for mental health treatment. If you’re in crisis, please reach out to a licensed professional or local crisis
